Select Academy Field Hockey (travel)

IFHCK INDOOR​​

Select Academy is for dedicated players seeking more playing time to develop their skills. Indoor field hockey is a complementary game to outdoor field hockey, played on sport court.

The winter indoor travel season spans over two months, enhancing speed and decision-making skills. Teams train and compete for the Regional or National USFHA Indoor Tournaments from December to February.

Indoor travel players must attend (2+) Regional and/or National events, along with USA Field Hockey National tournaments if selected or qualified.

• The Indoor Select Academy will conduct training sessions from Mid November to February. These sessions will take place on Mondays and Wednesdays. Times/days are subject to change.
• National Travel teams that have qualified for the National Indoor Tournament will train until their respective NITs, based on facility availability.
• In each age group, teams will be divided into Regional and National squads. Athletes who require additional evaluation from earlier assessment will be requested to return in November for further assessment. (if applicable)
• Athletes who have participated in the Indoor assessment and received invitations for the 2024-25 season will receive comprehensive information about Indoor Select. This information will cover playdays, costs, required equipment, and other important details. It will be sent out within few days following the assessment.

*Tryouts, or invitations, are open to all new and returning athletes.

    New athletes must purchase practice reversible, shorts, and official Select uniform (if not already owned).

    • Mid-Nov/Dec – Feb
    • Mondays & Wednesdays (times TBA)
    • Extra sessions/playdays on weekends (if needed)
    • National teams train until NITs

  • Equipment

    • Outdoor stick
    • Shin guards
    • Mouth guard
    • Water bottle
    • Tennis shoes or turf shoes
    • Goalkeepers: must provide their own equipment

Age Groups: Here's a breakdown of the updated age classifications for the 2025 club season

  • Under-8 Age Classification: Players born after July 31, 2016, are eligible.
  • Under-10 Age Classification: Players born after July 31, 2014, are eligible.
  • Under-12 Age Classification: Players born after July 31, 2012, are eligible.
  • Under-14 Age Classification: Players born after July 31, 2010, are eligible.
  • Under-16 Age Classification: Players born after July 31, 2008, are eligible.
  • Under-19 Age Classification: Players born after July 31, 2006, are eligible.
